Brownsea Island Bunkhouse Swim Retreat

Service Description

Come and discover the delights of Brownsea Island and the surrounding area for an exciting weekend swim retreat. The location is stunning, it is a bunkhouse on the beach at Brownsea Island. As you may know the island is only accessible by boat, so this is a real getaway. There are 4 dorms of 2 bunkbeds in each, room for 12 ladies in total. As with all Jurassic Coast Swimming events we will pack as much swimming in as possible, interspersed with lots of cake! There will be a full moon swim on the Friday evening, 2 swims each day, morning and afternoon and the chance of a sunrise swim on one of the days too. The pace will be relaxed with no time pressure or distances to achieve. We will have our wildlife expert, Sarah, with us, who will take you on a walk at dusk to listen to the Nightjars and other nocturnal residents at Brownsea. We will also hold an informal stretching/yoga session on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons in the garden, for anyone who would like to join. We will provide breakfast and supper each day you are there, and lunch will be at a cafe. We will be making the most of swimming in these wonderful clear waters, choosing the safest and most fun locations depending on the weather. If the weather hinders us, we will get a boat to the mainland and swim over there. The waters are quite fast and very tidal so some fun swooshes will be guaranteed. All abilities are welcome, but we would particularly like to encourage the more relaxed, less experienced swimmer. If you would like a faster paced swim weekend look at our Brownsea Swim Camp. Facilities are basic but comfortable. You will need to bring a sleeping bag and all your kit in a rucksack via the ferry. Your kit will be transported to the house once on the island. The cost includes 3 nights accommodation, all swims, safety crew & swim guides, swim hats, food except lunch, alcohol and any extra snacks you may need. The ferry cost is not included but entrance onto the island is.
